Strengthening Public Art Applications

  • ART 321 321 West Midwest Avenue Casper, WY, 82601 United States (map)

Join us for a FREE artist development session on February 24th at 6 pm to broaden your understanding of public art, learn application strategies, and participate in early/mid/advanced career breakout discussions facilitated by ART 321 Executive Director Tyler Cessor, Laramie Public Art Coalition’s Executive Director Laura Zorch McDermit, and Executive Director of Jackson Hole Public Art Carrie Garaci.

About Laura Zorch McDermit: Laura came to the Laramie Public Art Coalition after 15 years as an arts administrator in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is passionate about providing arts access for all. Laura has a Masters in Arts Management from Carnegie Mellon University.

About Carrie Garaci: Carrie founded Jackson Hole Public Art as a non-for profit public art program in 2010. Since then Geraci and staff have installed 14 public art projects in partnership with public and private developers, consulted on public art plans for the Town of Jackson, Teton Village Association, and St. John’s Medical Center, and produced the Public Art & Placemaking Toolkit for Rural Communities in the Intermountain West, a resource for communities looking to launch public art and creative placemaking programs. Geraci was recently named to the Americans for the Arts advisory council for the Public Art Network and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University.

About Tyler Cessor: Tyler is a frequent speaker on arts and community development, equity in the arts & culture landscape, and multicultural inclusive adult learning and self-authorship at events through The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities, The Wyoming Homeless Collaborative, College Music Society, and the Wyoming Department of Health’s “Health Equity Talks” among others. Tyler is passionate about creating opportunities and space for artists to develop their creative practices in the most relevant and authentic ways possible, and reducing the impact of systemic barriers that hinder that development

Thank you to the Old Yellowstone District and the City of Casper for sponsoring this workshop and supporting Wyoming artists year after year! ART 321 is in the Old Yellowstone District and would not have come to be without the generous support of this committee.
